New white paper explores the potential of TSN to improve manufacturing

The CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) has announced the immediate availability of a white paper on Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) at eu.cc-link.org. “Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) –The Case For Action Now” provides an in-depth analysis of what the technology is and why it is crucial to create Connected Factories.

Authored by the CLPA and its board member Analog Devices (ADI), the white paper takes a closer look at one of the most promising new developments for industrial communications, TSN. This offers a unique method to merge the information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) worlds, delivering the data convergence and transparency across factories and enterprises that Industry 4.0 demands.

This latest paper from the CLPA discusses the potential of TSN, its governing standards, how they are evolving and what this means for businesses interested in this technology. In particular, the document highlights why it is important to act now in the implementation of TSN-driven industrial communications networks, detailing the immediate and long-term benefits to end users as well as automation vendors.

Finally, the white paper provides an insight into current technologies available that can help the transition to TSN-based communications, such as CC-Link IE TSN. This is the first open industrial gigabit Ethernet to feature key TSN capabilities for industrial automation applications.

John Browett, General Manager of the CLPA in Europe, commented: “TSN represents the future of industrial communications and is a key enabler for Industry 4.0 applications. By adopting it, device vendors, machine builders and end users can benefit from a number of competitive advantages. The latest white paper from the CLPA explains what TSN is and how it can support the creation of futureproof converged networks. We invite all interested parties to take advantage of this complementary download and learn more about how TSN can enhance business strategies."
